Georleshia, a 22-year-old mom, first discovered CodeCrew while scrolling through social media during her daughter’s nap. Having previously studied biomedical engineering in college and dropping out at the height of COVID, she was drawn to CodeCrew’s program and applied after attending an informational session.

The boot camp was intense—covering four years of coding knowledge in just 10 months. Balancing motherhood, Georleshia found daycare and figured out how to continue breastfeeding, often missing class sessions to pump. “Missing class for an hour and a half each day meant a lot of catching up,” she said. Thankfully, Code School instructors stayed late to help, and CodeCrew offered a homework hotline for extra support. After class, she would pick up her daughter and return to campus, letting her daughter learn alongside her.

After graduating, Georleshia landed her first coding job as a Systems Engineer with AutoZone, earning nearly $30K more than she had as a phlebotomist. “This is life-changing—so many doors opened for me and my family,” she shared excitedly. Beyond her career shift, the experience also brought lasting friendships. “Two of my classmates are my best friends; one is even in my wedding next year. After going through something as challenging as boot camp, these people are definitely family.”
