At CodeCrew, we empower students to explore the exciting world of technology and problem-solving through hands-on learning in computer science. Our Middle School curriculum is designed to introduce students to fundamental computer science concepts, helping them build skills for the future while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Code on Laptop Computer

Coding and Programming

Students will explore the basics of programming languages such as Python, Scratch, or JavaScript. They will create simple games, animations, and interactive stories, learning about loops, variables, and conditional statements.

AI Explorers: Middle School
Grades 5th – 8th

Overview

Frequency: 1 time per week, 90 minutes per session
 

Grades:

  • 5th & 6th (AI Explorer)

    • ​Visual coding (Scratch, MakeCode), hands-on unplugged activities, and AI demos.

  • 7th & 8th (AI Innovators)

    • ​Text-based coding (Python/JavaScript), more complex AI tools, and real-world problem-solving

Goals:

  • Introduce core computer science skills

  • Demystify artificial intelligence concepts

  • Foster creativity, problem-solving, and ethical thinking

Program Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will:

  • Describe key AI concepts and identify examples in everyday life.

  • Understand the role of AI in applications like chatbots, recommendation systems, and robotics.

  • Apply computational thinking to solve problems creatively and logically.

  • Recognize ethical considerations and the importance of fairness in AI technology.

  • Develop confidence and curiosity to pursue further learning in computer science and AI.
