VIRTUAL HACKATHON

Humanity and Social Justice

Hackathon App Challenge

Since 2015 CodeCrew has offered a Hackathon aimed at inspiring teamwork and civic engagement for students. Teams are tasked with building a mobile app around a specific topic. Past topics have been, student health, school safety, human trafficking, fitness, civic pride. These broad topics allowed teams to create applications based on what the challenge topic meant to them. In the end, teams had produced a wide range of apps related to the challenge topic.

For this Virtual Hackathon Undergraduate College students can work as a team with up to 4 members or as an individual. In light of current events, our challenge will be based on the theme Humanity and Social Justice. We are asking all participants to reflect on the recents events, Covid-19, racial discrimination, cyber bullying, political engagement, just to highlight a few, and create a mobile app to help navigate, understand, or improve these and other areas that touch on humanity and social justice. The topic is intentionally broad so as to not limit students' creativity.
