Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Corey Phillips has joined Memphis University School as instructional technology teacher. He has a 10-year background in higher education, most recently as an instructional technologist since 2018 at Rhodes College. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Memphis Theological Seminary in 2017.

The Better Business Bureau of the Mid-South re-elected officers to lead its board of directors for 2022. Serving additional terms are chairwoman — Dotty Summerfield Giusti, president, Summerfield Associates; vice chairman — Meredith Crawford, president, Confluent Strategies; secretary – Reginald Peyton, president, The Peyton Company Realtors; treasurer – Gary Dodson, CEO, TAG and Lonestar Truck Group; and immediate past chairman – Ron Becker, owner, The Great American Home Store. The BBB elected four new directors: Kevin Woods, vice president and Memphis Market president, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee; Ernest Strickland, president and CEO, Black Business Association of Memphis; Jairo Arguijo, operations manager, La Prensa Latina; and Brian Raiteri, senior vice president, Regions Bank.

Glankler Brown announced Jake A. Kasser has been promoted to Member of the firm. His experience includes advising clients on the creation, development and implementation of comprehensive estate plans, including wealth transfer techniques and sophisticated tax planning and drafting complex wills and trusts. Kasser has a juris doctor and a master's degree in accounting from the University of Memphis.

The Memphis Sports & Events Center, a 227,000-square-foot competitive youth sports facility currently under construction in Liberty Park, named Antonio Perez as its general manager. Perez, formerly the director of Youth Basketball Programming for the Memphis Grizzlies, will lead the Memphis Sports & Events Center on behalf of Virginia-based facility operator Eastern Sports Management. His direction of tournaments, leagues and programs successfully grew the Memphis Grizzlies’ fan engagement, revenue generation, regional awareness and community outreach.

Thomas Grant has joined IMC Companies, the nation’s largest marine drayage company, as vice president of Logistics Sales and Services. He will be responsible for generating business growth across all of IMC's operating companies in addition to managing logistics of the organization to support its long-term growth. Grant previously was affiliated with Crowley, serving on the company’s sales and logistics team for nearly 28 years, most recently as senior director of National Accounts. He resides in Jacksonville, Florida.

Trustmark National Bank promoted Carla Tracy to assistant vice president in Memphis where she is a community lending specialist. She has been with Trustmark for two years and has 28 years of banking experience. Tracy is a member of the Women’s Council of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, Inc.
